Asa was born in the home of Jonathan Sr. where he was living as of 1940
when Maude Pugh wrote her book, Capon Valley, It's Pioneers and Their
Descendants 1698-1940.
He had a large family all married and gone to their own homes, as of 1939. They lived for many years with Asa's parents, Jonathan and Mary Hiett. Mary once said, "No better daughter-in-law could have been had if made to order." Florence lovingly nursed her in her last illness. Asa and Florence were good neighbors and followed in the parents footsteps in church work. Florence being a member of the Christian Church. Church attendance came natural to her as there was no better Christian woman in the community than Mrs. Isaac Grapes. Florence's mother whom she very soon followed to her reward, passing away during the winter of 1932 from the effects of the "flu." They are buried near Augusta Asa now lives alone, in the old home, aged about 74, Florence was a few years younger.

She was deaf and dumb from infancy, she was careful of interest and
happiness of her brothers and sisters. She lived to be 70 years old, and died in Milton, Ind. I believe she was visiting her cousin, Ann Unthank at the time of her death.
