Obituary Mrs. Charles Hiatt
Mrs. Martha Amoretta Mote Haitt daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Mote, was
born Jan 27, 1876 at Palmyra, Iowa, when she was five years old she mvoed with
her parents to a farm near Indianola. In 1903 they moved to Indianola where
she met Mr. Charles Hiatt and was married April 13, 1906. They made their home
in Indianola until 1909, when they moved to Des Moines, where they lived until
her death, which occurred March 20, 1912 and was buried at her old home in
Indainola, March 22. She leaves a loving husband, one son and two daugthers,
an infant son preceding her by seven days. She also leaves an aged father and
mother, six sisters, Mrs. Hattie Dyke of Chicago, Mrs. Stella McNutt of Des
Moines, Mrs. Mamie Walker of Swan, Mrs. Agnes Warden of Indianola and Anna and
Lois of Des Moines, four brothers, Fred, Harry and Louis of Des Moines and John
of Carlisle.

Missouri Republican, St. Louis, MO., 27 July 1866: HIATT, Dennis (sic) murdered his wife, then burnt $6000 in greenbacks, cut his wrists, died 7 or 8 days later in jail in Gasconade Co. (Letter from New Haven).
