Colubmia Nursing Plaza.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11 PM at the Webb and Rodrick Funeral
Home with the Rev. Paul Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope
Cem. Independence, Kansas
Dale Francis Hiatt was born 28 Oct 1910 in Independence, Kansas the son of
Wilbert and Cora Belle (Graham) Hiatt. He attended Elk City, Kansas Schools.
On June 1, 1939 in Independence, Kansas he married Elizabeth Osborn. She
survivies at the home.
Also sruviving are one son, James Leon of the home, one daughter Francsi
Robinson of Dallas, Texas and one brother, Otto Hiatt, Independence, Kansas.

Daniel Webb Hiatt was a Civil War Veteran and he died int eh Old Soldiers
Home in Lafayette, Ind. about 1921 He enlisted on 7 Oct 1864 when he was 15
1/2 years old. He enlisted in Indianapolis in the 7th Ind. Light Artillery
Battery. Honorably discharged at the end of the Civil War. His pension was
listed at 8 dollars in 1906 when he was admitted to the home. He was
readmitted in 1913 when his pension was 12 dollars again in 191 he was getting
30 dollars an at his last admission in 9121 he was getting 72 dollars.
Daniel was married a second time to Ella. In 1922 the last paper in his
file was turning his pension over to his wife who was also a resident of the
Old Soldiers Home. The trail ends there and the last paper was signed on Jan
25, 1922 with the notation Pension Certificate given to Mrs. Hiatt (wife) Jan
25, 1922. It states he left the home of his own accord.
