Sent by Betty Hanson. Birth record of Guy Hiatt indicated he is the 8th
child born to his mother. Where is the missing child? Perhaps she had a child
from her first marriage. Her obituary would seem to inidcate this as it lists
a Mrs. Clinton Frye of Portland, Oregon whom I have not yet identified her
father. I need to read the 1880 Census, which may shed some light on this
question.

Larry
30 Sep 2005.
Terry's father, Harley William Hiatt ended up with these original papers in his possession, granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been in the military service of the United States, Warrent No. 65544 for ____ Acres (I can't read the copy and now I have forgotten where I put the original). Issued in favor of Isaac L. White, Private in Cpt Fairfield's company, Maine Militia, War 1812. Then further down in the document this land is assigned to Talbert Hiatt. Talbert figures out to be a 3rd cousin 2x removed to Terry's father, Harley Hiatt. It's strange he would have these papers. Do you want copies of things like this? And brotherrrrr, if you want pictures you've got a good source right here. Just let me know. I'll probably have a difficult time sleeping tonight because I can't find those original papers about the bounty land. Joan Endsley

Sent by Bernice Norris, Frank Cox. Harlon Hiatt married 4 times. Son Lewis of Neb. Martha Jane (Harlon's daughter) married into the Miami tribe with the chief being Godfroy.
From a letter by Blanche ANDERSON of Kansas: He married 4 times, left one son, Lewis HIATT of Nebraska, long since past away. She also said that one of our Quaker ancestors married into the Miami Tribe with the Chief being Godfrey.

Listed in the 1850 Census of Cass County, Adam Township.
From an internet listing, brief, from Alice Robins, P.O. Box 3215, Seal Beach, CA 90740, or aerobbins@earthlink.net, 18 June 2000.

According to a letter by Blanche Anderson, of Kansas, many of Harlan's family are buried in the Shambaugh, IA cemetery.
Who were the parents of Harlan HIATT, born ca. 1828 in OH, who married Martha A. NUFF/NIFF ca 1858, Page Co., IA and married 2nd to Emily Jane (Brown) BARTHOLOMEW, widow of William, ca 1879 Page Co., IA.
Harlan had two children, at least, with Martha Jane (b. 1859, Page Co., IA) and Lewis M. (b. 1866 Page Co., IA); none that I know of with Emily BROWN.

Emily died in NE ca 1890; what about Harlan?
In a letter sent 27 Jul 2000, Alice Robbins adds:
Birth and death dates and lacales from Census records and from the Online cemetery records for Frontier Co., NE found at www.rootsweb.com/~nefronti/dead_h.html.
Information on his wife and children, of Louis M. HIATT, from the Census records of 1900 Frontier Co., NE, North Star, NE.
