Mary Linkous made her home in the Montgomery Co., Virginia community of Vicker. Eliza Jane was given 357 acres by Margaret Taylor in 1867, excepting the Little Vein Coal Mine and 15 acres around it. The mine was up Lick Branch from the Coal Hollow road to Price's Fork. (Harvey L. Price's notes indicate that Eliza Jane's father was a Taylor.)

The 1880 census shows that John Taylor Linkous and family were living in the Clearfork District of Tazewell Co., Virginia. John served in the Confederate Army in Co. F, 22nd VA Calvary, ending with the rank of Captain. John Taylor owned large tracts of land, which in his time included most of the town of Graham, Virginia. When he moved to Graham in 1883, the town had just changed its name from Pin Hook; later it was changed again to Bluefield. Captain Linkous was the first mayor of Graham. He built his home on what is now Tazewell Avenue in 1884 or 1885 on several acres known as the Linkous Reservation. He is buried on the hillside on Tazewell Avenue with a stone marking the spot. He died on December 14, 1892. In January, 1993 the History Committee for Bluefield, Virginia had a renovation of the site under study and by March, 1993 the 6 acre site had been purchased for that purpose.

Provided by Larry Anderson ...There was a brother of our John Hiatt who was living in Ireland when in about 1715 a nephew, Elijah Hiatt, son of John Sr. was visiting him. Elijah
and Thomas are supposed to have gone to join with the Hopewell MM abt. 1715.
Some of that family are said to have gone into SC and into Kentucky. In the
census of 1790 there were some of the descendants living close together and
compared relationship. Two were the grandchildren of Thomas and the third was a grandson of Elijah and claimed to be cousins. There was a good deal of
research on these families undertaken by Elizabeth Hyatt Ogden and continued by her niece, Aeola Hyatt Brennerman of Hyannis, NE.

There are also bounteous records concerning these families researched by
Nellie Corcharan of St. Louis, Mo. Nellie has not as of yet shared this
information with us but we would hope that her information will be available to researchers in the near future.

Of the families who appeared in the Madison Co., KY census of 1790-1810,
there is a Thomas and John who were brothers and an Elijah who was a cousin.
Thomas and John were from the Thomas line, Elijah from the Elijah who was
reported to have been a son of John and Mary Hieght, our Quaker Imm. To date, our records are mainly absent of any record of these families. This Thomas was allgedly born in Wales. There is no proof of this relationship at this time and we only include him here as a place to hold information if it is forth coming and thereby hopefully be able to confirm or disprove lineage. It will not hurt to recognize his presence in some form as there has been many intermingling of these families. Hopefully there will be proof forthcoming on these families.

Came to N.Y. near Phil in 1738 Had nine sons. This linkage has not been
proven at this point, but the lineage forward is accurate and is not meant to
be taken as absolute. It is contained herein for the purpose of tying in
families which will again cross link with later generations. There is
substatial circumstantial ties to our other families which make this
believable, perhaps it may one day be proven and developed fully.
