Records of West Union M, Morgan Co., Ind, show that Josiah Hiatt married on
18 Jul 1861 to Nancy Hall, B.13 Oct 1821. They were received there on cert.
from Richland MM (Now Carmel MM), Hamilton Co., were granted a cert. back to
Richland in 1868, and granted a cert. to New Hope MM, Tenn. in 1878. Only
three children are shown, namely Rachel Elma, b 1864, Ellis Elzie, and
Priscilla Jane. No further records on this family, except Ellis Elzie is said
to have removed to Lamar, Colo.

Abstracted recrods of Carmel Monthly Meeting, Ind, earlier called Richland MM, show that Josiah Hiatt, wife Nancy, and daughter, unnamed, were granted a certificate of removal to West Union on 22 April 1865. Josiah and daughters (with his wife) Rachel Elma, (born 1864) and Priscilla were received back at Carmel MM from West Union MM on 24 Oct 1868 - no mention of the sons family was granted a certificate to New Hope MM, Tenn., on 6 Mar 1878, and was received Carmel on cert. from Lost Creek MM, Tenn., on 8 Sept 1897. Ellis E. and his wife Fanny, and Irene Mabel and Lina were granted a cert. to East Branch MM, Ind., on 4 Jul 1900....
Quakers can usually only be found in the records of the individual MM of
which they were members at any one time. Copying material is not a problem.
The problem comes in trying to find the material to be copied.
