EVELYN J. HIATT
1915 - 1996
LIBERTY, Mo. -- Evelyn J. (Ensign) Hiatt, 81, Liberty, formerly of Cameron, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at the home of a daughter, Dorie Flexer, in Liberty.
Mrs. Hiatt and her late husband, Walter, owned and operated the former Hiatt's Red X Grill in Cameron for 37 years before retiring.
Born in Cameron on June 10, 1915, she lived most of her life in Cameron before moving to Liberty 10 months ago.
Mrs. Hiatt was a graduate of the Cameron high school and a member of the former Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in Cameron.
On Jan. 28, 1941, she married Walter S. Hiatt in Cameron. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Hiatt also was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gladys Ensign.
Surviving: a son, Tom, Layette, La.; another dauther, Jackie Voris, Lee's Summit, Mo; three brothers, Ted and Bus Ensign, both of Cameron, and Jack Ensign, Warsaw, Mo.; a sister, Virginia Gossey, Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Camer. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Cameron. Family visitation: 7 to 8 tonight at the furneral home.
