Obituary: Mrs. Vance Hiatt
Sidney - Funeral services for Mrs. Vance Hiatt, 71, are set for 2 p.m.
Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Sidney Cemetery, with the Rev. Carroll Prouty, Nebraska
City officiating. Mrs. Hiatt died Saturday at the hospital in Nebraska City.
Born and reared in the Sidney area, she moved to Nebraska City 14 years
ago.
Survivors include: husband Vance, son, Glen, Nebraska City; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Gibbs, Nebraska City, Mrs. Lorrayne Orr, Sidney; brother, Lloyd Ponte, Redwood, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd McCain, Shenandoah, and Mrs J.C. Kern, Council Bluffs.

Lorena Hiatt
Lorena Hiatt, 59, died Feb 19, 1987 at the Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev.
following a lengthy illness.
She was born near Centerville Feb 12, 1928, the daughter of Pearl and
Nettie Smith. She married Wayne Hiatt of Cneterville in 1947.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Jodie Davis and Fabiene
Burrell, and two grandchildren, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Lola Walker,
Centerville; Mildred Gladfelder, Moravia; and Dorothy Smith, Bloomfield; and
three brothers, Clevie Smith, Laurel; Volla Smith, Ottumwa, and Emery E. Smith,
Irving, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold, and one
sister Evelyn Anderson.
She taught at Scott and Showers schools in Appanoose County. In later
years, the family moved to Las vegas, where she received a degree in business
administration from the University of Nevada. She was selected Investerment
Executive of Month by Blyth Eastman Dillon and Co., Inc., one of the nation's
10 largest investment and brokage firms. The award was presented in
recognition of her professionalism and creativity in serving the investment
needs of the firm's clients. She was selected for this award for over 500
investment executives nationwide.
The body was cremated, and the ashes were put on Sunrise Mountain, where
she lived. Services were held in Las Vegas, and a memorial was established to
Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
