Louisa J. Hiatt, daughter of Amos and Hannah Bales Hiatt, was born in
Randolph Co., near Winchester, Ind. September 29, 1835 and died in Winchester,
Ind. May 28, 1906 age 70 yrs and 8 months lacking one day.
One Sept 8, 1866, she was married to Jonathan S. Hiatt who preceded her to
the promise land April 6, 1903. To this union were born three children Clara
A. Wills, who resides in Winchester, Effie M., who died in infancy and Mary
Ethel Garrison who also lives in Winchester, Ind.
Mrs. Hiatt was the eldest of twelve children, seven of whom are still
living. Eighteen years ago, togetyher with her family, she united with Friends
Church at Winchester and has even been an honor to it. Those who knew her best
testify that her life was that of a fairthful Christian, not her outward
demonstrations, so much as in her quiet sweetness of everyday practivcal
Christianity. As a child she was obedient. As a young woman trustworthy. As
a wife faithful and industrious. As a mother, tender ans sympathetic and her
children found mother's lap the bank to deposit all their grief and sorrow.
They are here ready to rise up and call her blessed.
As a friend she was always thougthful and ready to help at the expense of
self.
Ere she departed this life she lived over again the scences of her
childhood, spoke of the friends of her youth, called many of them departed by
name and the last word she uttered was that of her companion who left for the
mansions three years ago. Now she has gone to be with him and the dear ones
for evermore, there to await the coming of the daughters, the brothers, sisters
and the many relatives and friends who are left to mourn her departure.

There is an ear the hears,
When heavies weighs life's galling chain;
Tis Heaven that whispers "Dry Thy Tears"
The pure in Heaven shall meet again.
Rev. Chas. E. Hiatt of Muncie and Rev. W. J. Sayers officaited. IInterment at
