I am in the process of sending a letter to the submitter of the new information to see if this problem can be resolved. if not, additional research needs to be done.

Some people may not know that there is proof of age of Jemima Lundy Hiatt, who married William Hiatt. Jemima Lundy Hiatt's tombstone is still at her grave in Indiana and the dates offer proof that she did die at the age of 100 years, sadly, the tombstone has been broken in two, possibly by vandals, but it is still there and legible.
Jemima Lundy b. 1772 d. 20 Feb. 1882, Madison Co., Ind. Married William
Hiatt 22 July 1806 in Grayson Co., Va.
I mention this because I have read in several books that the age may be
incorrect and that the records may be in error, saying that she was really only 90, and adjusting her birth or death date to suit what they are printing.
This William and Jemima Lundy Hiatt had 19 children. I know the names of
13 of them and would like to know any others. I am a descendant of their son
Levi Hiatt who married Ann Adamsom.

Verified from picture of headstone provided by Del Taylor of Peoria, AZ.James M. was a schoolteacher for 40 years. His youngest son, Silliam Vestal, wrote of his father as the best man he had evr known. He remembered his father working so hard. He was a farmer, teacher, salesman, church worker, father and mother (after his wife's death) for a while. Vestal told of going with his father from door to door selling Aladdinlamps. He was a good provider. He raised about everything to eat, chickens, pork, beef, cane for syrup, apples, and peaches. His father loved helping others. He gave the land for one of the first Mormon churches to be built in NC and was Branch President for many years. He believed the Mormon teachings and he lived it every day. He recalled of having the traveling elders in their home for weeks at a time. Vestal said, "I can remember walking through woods and over the hills to some neighbor's home, Dad with a lantern, leading a whole group of the family. We would have a meeting and return home. When the neighbor lived further away we would ride the mule to the house. I also remember going to White Plains in a buggy for a Sunday meeting. I was sitting in the buggy floor watching the horse's feet hit the road. My dad loved his church work."
Vestal remembered very litle about his mother, Nancy Ann, as he was only 7 years old when she died. When he was 4 years old the whole family had the flu. this was in 1918. All of the family was in bed, most were real sick. The neighbors were aftaid to come by. On 24 Dec 1918 his brother Lacy died. His mother and sister Callie were in the same room but both were too sick to get out of bed. His mother wanted to see Lacy but they didn't want Callie to know he was dead. There was a window between their beds. Lacy's coffin was brought to the window and opened for her to see him. Then it was put on a two horse wagon and carried to the church. This was on Christmas Eve of 1918. Two days later on 26 Dec 1918 his sister Callie died. She was put beside Lacy at the church graveyard. Vestal said, "I know my mother was a strong woman to go through all this. Even though Mom was sick, she took care of the children as best she could. My brother Jimmy was in the hospital at this same time. Everyone was afraid he would not make it, he also had the flu. It was just three years after the bad Christmas of 1918 that our mother was taken, also at Christmas time, on 20 Dec `1921. This night I can remember very well."
On 21 Aug 1900 James , was called to preside over the Mt. Airy branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. He presided over the branch until 28 Jan 1940 when James C. Hiatt, one of his sons, was called to replace him. He continued to be a pillar of strength in the community and church until his death on 24 Jul 1941. James and James C. Hiatt along with Wm Henry Hiatt, James Monroe Shelton, Ephriam A. Hiatt, Jacob F. Hiatt, Jesse Lafayette Hiatt, John H. Jones, Calvin J. Jones, James M. Chappell, Wilford Hiatt, James W. Brinkley, and David L. Hiatt were the nucleus around which the Church grew in the Mt. Airy vicinity.
